Publishing a non-default language to a remote Confluence replaces the content of default one

Description

Prerequisites:

  1. Two Confluence instances: #1 (source) with VSN, TRSL; #2 (target) with VSN, TRSL, Remote Publishing Endpoint

Steps to reproduce:

  1. On Confluence #1 create a space, activate version 1.0, define English (default) and French

  2. Create new page in version 1.0, set title to "English title", set content to "English content"

  3. Switch to French, click Translate

  4. Define title in French as "French title", define content in French as "French content"

  5. On Confluence #2 create a space, define English (default) and French

  6. On Confluence #1 click Publish → select a created earlier space in target Confluence → publish English language

  7. Go to the target Confluence space → all OK

  8. On Confluence #1 click Publish → select a created earlier space in target Confluence → publish French language

Expected result:
French translation is added to the target space

Actual result:

  • The content of English page is replaced with French content (title is still English)

  • Publishing English to a target space again removes French content ("This page has not yet been translated to French")

Environment

Confluence 5.9.7, 5.10.8

We publish to the same space which contains several languages.
Publishing of English and French is not done at the same time.
However, we don't expect publishing of French to insert French text to the English documentation.

Publishing to a remote system currently works for publishing all languages at the same time or always a single one.

E.g. if you have a space with 2 languages (english and french) and want to publish to a remote system you have to decide to:

  • publish all languages to a single space in the remote system. All further updates have to be published in the same way.

  • publish each of the languages to a single space in the remote system. All further updates have to be published in the same way.

Please decide on one of the two supported approaches as workaround.
