Add option to set an issue link for synchronized issues

Description

Context
Backbone is using the Issue Sync Panel to show the linked issue of a synced issue. This is a good way to see the connection for synced issues. As an alternative, Backbone offers a "sync.correlationFieldId" in the advanced settings where users could use a custom text field which Backbone fills with the linked issue key. This can be useful if users want to access the linked issue key e.g. in a JQL.

Suggested Improvement
If users are using an add-on like Links Hierarchy to visualize the relationships of linked issues (by using Jira issue links), they would benefit from an issue link to the synced issue by Backbone. This means, instead of adding the issue key of a synced issue to the custom field, Backbone could add an issue link.

To Check...

  • is it possible to achieve this with issues on different instances? Probably not, but needs to be checked.

  • Backbone could create a separate issue link type like "syncs with" / "is synced with" => do users want to specify their own issue link type?

  • which permissions are necessary?

Hi all,

We are closing this issue as a workaround is available with using Jira Automation. You can find more information on how to set that up here: https://help.k15t.com/backbone-issue-sync/5.4/all/set-the-synchronized-issue-as-an-issue-link-214499341.html.

Note: this is only applicable for when the issues are on the same instance.

If you have any further questions feel free to reach out to us at help@k15t.com or support.k15t.com.

Cheers,
Liset
