Advanced Links can't be inserted in the translation of a page

Description

When editing a certain language (other than the default language) it's not possible to insert an advanced link. The insert button is inactive.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Activate Scroll Translations

  2. Create a new language (e.g. German)

  3. Select German in the language picker

  4. Edit the page and click Insert Link > Advanced Tab

  5. Start writing

Expected result:
The Insert button is active

Actual result:
The Insert button stays inactive (see screenshot) and the user can not insert a link to an anchor (or other advanced links).

Workaround #1:
Use the Confluence Source Editor to directly edit the source of the page.

Workaround #2:
You can use a feature to translate pages directly in Confluence to workaround this issue.
1. Click on Translate link to edit the page in non default languages.
2. On the left side you will see the Content from default language.
3. Copy the link from default language to a non-default language.
4. Save the page. Now the link works in both the languages.

Hi

I have documented a simple workaround (Edit: removed it again, sorry, it was not as reliable as it seemed.) above to make the Insert button active on the Advanced tab.

We will try to ship this as a proper fix in an upcoming release. My colleagues comment above however seems to be about a different, but related issue (Linking into non-default languages using the Advanced tab), which is a much bigger issue than this.

Cheers,

David

Hello K15T

Thank you for the “promising” update on this ticket. Have you managed to fined a solution in the meantime?

Hi all,

we are aware that this issue has been open for quite a while now. Due to technical restrictions we weren’t able to find a solution for this in the past, but we decided to have another look into this in the near future to see if recent changes in Confluence made it possible for us to finally provide a solution to this problem.

Hello K15T,

for us it would be important to insert an anchor makro and not only for the default language.

Thanks and have a great day!

Melanie

Hello K15T,

Any updates on this issue? For our editors it is hard to not be able to insert advanced links on additional language versions. The issue was created in 2015 and there is still no fix available.
There is another confluence standard macro that is not working on additional language versions as well > Confluence Markup macro, related ticket is VSN-2983.

Please give us an update on this ticket. Can we expect a fix version soon?

BR, Oliver
