"Error loading children" in spaces with no homepage

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a space with a version

2. Create a few pages

3. Set the space homepage to not defined

Expected result:
The page tree should be displayed

Actual result:
"Error loading children" is displayed on every page instead of the page tree

Workaround:
Define a homepage in the space
